CORRINE SYLVIA, CFRE
Corrine Sylvia has more than 20 years of professional fundraising and development experience. In 1987, during her tenure as Director of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation, she worked closely with the Board of Directors to increase its annual fund from $100,000 to $450,000. In 1990, she served as Development Director at WOMENS WAY where she worked with staff and Board to raise $1.6 million annually. In 1993 she launched Corrine Sylvia & Associates, a consulting firm specializing in development and philanthropy.
Corrine has worked with large and small not-for-profit organizations providing counsel, training and technical assistance with annual campaigns, feasibility studies, capital and endowment campaigns and targeted development services. In 1995-96 she worked with the Board of Directors of the Rangeley Region Health Center to raise the goal of $1 million dollars to build a health center in the remote town of Rangeley, Maine. In 1998 she assumed the management of The People’s Light & Theatre Company’s capital campaign, chaired by the late Willard G. Rouse and retired Publisher of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Sam McKeel. The campaign raised $11.3 million ($2 million more than its $9.3 million goal). In 2001 she served as campaign counsel for Camphill Village assisting them in raising more than $3 million for a new residence for seniors and retirees and a community health center. In 2005-06 she and Constance Carter raised $1.5 million to purchase a new home for the West Chester Area Senior Center.
Corrine is frequently called on to teach courses on grantsmanship, building the annual fund, creating major gifts and conducting capital campaigns to colleagues throughout the Delaware Valley. Corrine serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals where she co-chairs the Essentials of Fundraising Program which presents training for small not for profit organizations throughout the Delaware Valley. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and she is the Vice President of Orchestra 2001. She sits on the Historic Yellow Springs Board where she chairs the Development Committee and the Capital Campaign fundraising efforts.
Corrine holds dual Masters degrees in American Cultural History. She graduated from The George Washington University in 1980.
