	FEATURED CLIENT (scoll down for full client list) Chester County Community Dental Center Chester County Community Dental Center is a full-service community dental office dedicated to serving low-income, uninsured and underinsured children, adults and families needing affordable, quality dental care. Basic dental care is provided as well as comprehensive, free educational programs and screenings to schools and community-based organizations. Each year Chester County Dental enables thousands of people to receive affordable, convenient, essential dental care. Chester County Dental’s Board of Directors originally contracted with Sylvia/Carter and Associates to help build the development program and specifically increase foundation funding. Within weeks of our engagement we realized there were deeper and broader difficulties affecting the organization. There were problems with patient and third party clinic revenues, and nominal fund raising was occurring. The organization had no operating reserves and would soon run out of funds. We made a quick, in depth organizational assessment and subsequent recommendations to the Board for significant changes. We obtained foundation funding to enable us to continue our work, and assisted in the formation of an ad hoc advisory group of local non-profit and for–profit professionals to explore ways to strengthen the organization. A year later Chester County Community Dental Center is flourishing. Service fees have been greatly increased, patient numbers are steadily rising, and donations from foundations and individuals are growing. We published the first newsletter, are building the website, and plans are underway to expand staff and facilities in order to meet the growing need. What began as a simple Annual Fund project turned into, “Can this organization be saved?” We are proud to say, Yes! It was!
